Malayan Motors

Malayan Motors has long been a part of the automotive community in Singapore. It first opened its doors to car enthusiasts on November 30, 1926 in Orchard Road. The company handled the Morris car franchise as well as the Rolls Royce and Bentley franchises. Over the years, Malayan Motors’ stable of cars grew as it added first the Wolseley and Riley marques and then the sporting MG name.

Following the Second World War, the company introduced the famed Morris Minor and the durable Morris Oxford Diesel taxi in 1948. The Jaguar franchise was added to the range of products of Federated Motors in January 1970. During the downturn of the car market in the mid 1970s, the operations of Malayan Motors were merged with Federated Motors and Progress Motors – the latter also held the Austin and Leyland Truck and Bus franchises. Then, in August 1989, Malayan Motors added the Volvo Truck franchise to its increasingly prestigious list of agencies. In 1979, Malayan Motors moved to its present location at 45 Leng Kee Road from which it has grown from strength to strength.
