
Mr Ng was appointed as Chairman of the Board in January 2010. He has served on the Wearnes Board as an Independent and Non-executive Director since 2005, and was appointed as its Deputy Chairman in 2008. As Chairman, Nr Ng leads the formulation of the Group’s overall strategies to continue unlocking greater shareholder value. He also serves as the Chairman of the Nominating Committee, and as a member of the Remuneration Committee.
He is currently the Chairman of TIBS International Pte Ltd, NTUC FairPrice Co-operative Limited, NTUC Choice Homes Co-operative Limited and Network China. Mr Ng is also a Director of Singapore Press Holdings Limited, Yanlord Land Group Limited and NTUC FairPrice Foundation Ltd. He has also been a Director of TIBS Holdings Ltd (the company he founded in 1981 until its merger with SMRT in 2001), SMRT Corporation Ltd and Biosensors International Group Ltd. He was also a member of the APEC Business Advisory Council from September 2001 to September 2008.
Mr Ng has been elected Vice President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on 9 October 2009 and is a member of various IOC Commissions. He is the Chairman of the Board of Governors for the Singapore Olympic Academy, Vice-President of the Singapore National Olympic Council and Chairman of its Finance Committee. He is the Chairman of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games Singapore Organising Committee.
Mr Ng is Singapore’s Ambassador to the Republic of Hungary and the Kingdom of Norway. A Nominated Member of Parliament from June 2002 to January 2005, he was appointed a Justice of the Peace in September 2005. In 1999, he was conferred the Public Service Star. He has received other awards including a Gold Medal by the International Sailing Federation, the NTUC May Day Award – Medal of Commendation, NTUC Friend of Labour Award in 2001 and the Outstanding Chief Executive of the Year Award in 1992. In 2007, he received the NTUC Meritorious Award.
Mr Ng has a BBA(Hons) from the University of Singapore and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport.
