Wearnes' philosophy is to find solutions that enable and empower people, and help them maximise their potential and achieve their aspirations.

In conjunction with its Centennial, Wearnes launched its corporate responsibility programme in 2006 to help the less privileged in the community.

It adopted The Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD) and rallied its staff, business partners and friends to raise funds for SPD. The SPD is a voluntary welfare organisation established with the goal of integrating people with physical disabilities into mainstream society. Formerly known as the Society for Aid to the Paralysed, it started out in 1964 as a workshop employing people with physical disabilities in the production of bottle crates. SPD today conducts many programmes and services that provide rehabilitation, employment, training, help and advise in assistive technology, education and social services for some 1,200 people with physical disabilities.

Wearnes and its Singapore subsidiaries have allowed staff to encash and donate their annual leave to the SPD for the centennial year.  Together with its partners, it has raised over $300,000 for the charity.

In addition, Wearnes established the Wearnes Bursary Award to help Nanyang Technology University students realise their full potential through education.  It converted an existing Wearnes - Nanyang Technological University (NTU) student loan fund into an endowment fund with a donation of $63,000. An annual bursary of $5,000 will be given to needy, deserving students from NTU's Electrical and Electronic Engineering faculty.

Wearnes' Automotive division has also contributed $10,000 to set up an annual Cash Award to recognise the top student in NTU's Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering faculty.
